I'm briefly back in NY after a few weeks on the road with The Michael Gallant Trio, Aurical and Woodhead. The first stretch in DC featured a bit of a "car-tastrophe" on the way down, and I was thrilled to make it in time the hit at Twins Jazz with Michael and Pepe Gonzalez. I've been playing Twins on and off for many years with different bands, and it was a treat to go back and see so many familiar faces. Pepe is great bass player and an even better guy- it was a real treat to play and hang with him again. The next day, Dmitry Ishenko joined us for a recording/video shoot at Levine Music school, which is the same place we did the trio's "Live Plus One" album last year. I'm looking forward to seeing the video, as they used sixteen of those fancy 360' cameras to film it. The next day we played at a hip little spot called the Dew Drop Inn in northeast DC with Aurical, and then I headed back to NY to prep for the next leg of the Woodhead tour though Boston, Western Mass, Vermont and upstate NY. More on that soon!
