"Hair & Brimstone" and a new WISD Album
I'm really excited to be heading back into the studio with We is Shore Dedicated this week to do a new record! WISD is an irreverent collaboration between Bay area singer-songwriter Sam Tsitrin and my longtime bass compadre Dmitry Ishenko. This will be my third album with the band, and I've spent the last few days coming up with some drum parts and ideas for the session. Sam's music is deceptively difficult and always has a lot of time changes, groove switches, and unexpected twists and turns (which is why it's always been some of my favorite material to play). Even though we don't get to play shows very often, I've always felt this music deserved a wider audience...which leads me to the title of my post. Apparently, a few tunes from our 2011 album "Smiley" were recently featured in an offbeat British short film called "Hair and Brimstone". The film now has over 200,000 views on Youtube, and I can tell you it's definitely worth checking out. It's about a zombie hair salon. It's quite awesome. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgkxT1hjzDQ.
Our music is in the opening and closing credits, as well as short snippets throughout the film. There's also a few bits from our last album, "OX". Anyway, I'm off to rehearsal....more soon!
