The last few months have been an amazing whirlwind of drumming and traveling. I toured and recorded with so many great bands, overcame a major "car-tastrophe", got settled in a new rehearsal studio, and joined the world of Instagram. The Michael Gallant Trio did shows in DC and NY and filmed a 360 video; Woodhead went everywhere and released a record, Cristiano played the Highline Ballroom, We is Shore Dedicated tracked a new album and got featured in an odd British film that went viral on Youtube. Skulk The Hulking played St. Vitus and scared the crap out of everyone. The Depth and The Whisper did an East Coast run and a Bitter End show; Craig Taubman and Sean Harkness played a fun show in Maryland, got rained on and laughed a lot. Jann Klose and Elsa Nilsson played outside on a beautiful day in the Bronx, Aurical did shows in NY and DC and released a new single, and The Funk Machine did what the Funk Machine does. And I had the immense privilege of joining them for all of it. I even found a minute to meet a few of my drumming heroes, Carmine Appice and Bernard Purdie at The Cutting Room and see old friends Bruce Gertz and Jerry Bergonzi. As fall barrels toward us, I'm extremely excited for the next batch of shows, including Doll Parts at Le Poisson Rouge, Svoy at Rockwood Music Hall, Skulk in Brooklyn, the Michael Gallant Trio's Tomi Jazz residency, and Andrea Capozzoli's album release at Ryles in Boston. But first, a short respite and a cold beverage. Check the calendar page for details and more updates! Phew!
