Swinging @ Maureen's, Adventures in the Billboard Top 10

Very exciting news- a compilation album I played on with Jann Klose is currently charting in the Billboard Top 10! The compilation is called Action Moves People United, and benefits UNESCO, a well-known organization that promotes world peace. This is a big thrill for me, especially because the rest of the album includes some major heavy hitters and drum heroes of mine. Alan White from YES plays on the first track, which is a combination of music and spoken word and also features actor Dan Aykroyd (who you gonna call?). There's contributions from other members of YES, Martin Barre (Jethro Tull), Julian Lennon, Annie Haslem (Renaissance) and a track featuring the indomitable Tony Levin on bass, and Jann's tune "Make it Better" from his album "Mosaic". So this is an extremely cool development and a rather big deal for Jann and the other artists involved. I remain excited and humbled at having a small part in it. You can get it here: http://www.actionmovespeopleunited.org.

I'm also coming off an a really fun performance at Maureen's Jazz Cellar in Nyack, NY with singer Andrea Capozzoli. Andrea is releasing her album jazz album "Lessons" this week and it was great to begin the celebration with pianist David Budway, bassist Dmitry Ishenko and a host of special guests. The album (and the venue) are an homage to Andrea's vocal teacher and David's sister Maureen Budway who passed away last year. It was great to honor her memory with so much joy and good music, and I'm looking forward to our Boston CD release show on Friday, which features another of Andrea's former teachers, pianist Maggie Scott (who also plays on the album).

More as it comes!
