Vegas, DC, Recordings
I'm excited to be heading out to Las Vegas this weekend to play at Caesar's Palace with MC Frontalot for Def Con 25! In all my travels over the years, this will be my first time in Vegas and I can't wait to see what all the fuss is about. (I don't like to gamble, but I do like to eat. So there might be a buffet involved somewhere). We'll be sharing a bill with Reel Big Fish and a couple other acts on Friday night. I'll be toting along my trusty Hendrix snare, as well some new Shure SE215 in-ear monitors I'm trying out since my EC3's finally bit the dust. This week has been a whirlwind, as I just got back from DC after playing the Smithsonian American Art Museum with Michael Gallant and Dmitry Ishenko. The space we played in was nothing short of epic, and featured some of the craziest reverb I've ever experienced (videos are coming). The sound was excellent and so was the audience, which included a great number of my family and close friends. Michael's family was also well represented, as we actually grew up playing in a high school band together in DC and reconnected in NYC many years later. There's nothing like playing in your hometown. That trio will be also be back at our home-away-from-home Tomi Jazz in NYC this Wednesday. In between traveling and playing, I also had a fun time recording some bodhran tracks for a new Broadway show currently in previews...more on that a little later on, We're also finishing up mastering on the Skulk The Hulking record and I'll be heading into the studio with a couple new artists next month. That's all for now. Thanks for reading!
