SXSW, NOLA, Shows
SXSW was a blast, and I'm almost recovered from the all the playing, hanging, walking and eating we did in Austin. I'll be posting some video from the MC Frontalot show at the Karma Lounge, but in the meantime, please enjoy this shot of some delicious BBQ from Green Mesquite...I know I did. Before the festival, I also made a stop-over in New Orleans for even more playing and hanging. Both cities are great for live music, and I especially enjoyed my night off in NOLA seeing the Rebirth Brass band at their long-standing residency Uptown at the Maple Leaf Bar. That is one super-tight horn section, and the bass drummer took no prisoners.
Now that I'm back in NYC, I'll be hitting the studio with a couple projects this week while eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new custom snare from Hendrix Drums. First, I'll be back at Germano Studios with singer-songwriter Brandon Rosen, and then shooting a video at The Seaside Lounge in Brooklyn with Woodhead. We're also prepping new tunes for Cristiano's show at the Gramercy Theater next Thursday 3/29, which includes a breathtaking LED display by designer David Crittendon (we tried it out yesterday in rehearsal, and all I can say is "wow"). Fri. 3/30 I'll be at back at Hank's Saloon with my buds Skulk, The Hulking, and next week also includes a couple days performing the musical "Stu for Silverton" at the Dimenna Center in Midtown, along with a Thursday 4/5 doubleheader of shows with Luke Buck (DROM) and Favorite States (Prohibition).
I've also got a couple more videos on Drum Talk TV, including this aerial clip from a recent David Bowie B-day tribute https://www.facebook.com/DrumTalkTV/videos/1751202601625063/ . It's really an honor to be regularly featured on the world's most popular drum video website, and we're getting close to 100K total views!
Now that I have this nifty new mobile blog app on my phone ,I'll try to post updates more frequently. Anyway, thanks for visiting the site, watching the vids and reading the blog!
