Here's some pretty cool stuff to start off 2019! It's a tremendous honor to be featured in two major music publications this month. The Downbeat article discusses the process of recording drums from a jazz perspective, while the Modern Drummer blog is essentially a wrap-up of my 2018 with a look ahead to the coming year. Here are some links:
DownBeat: Jazz & The Home Studio
Modern Drummer: On the Beat with Rob Mitzner
It's also a privilege to have my picture and biography included on this list of distinguished music department alumni from my alma mater, Brown University. I got to learn from some amazing teachers and play with many talented musicians during my four years there. My jazz band director, Matt McGarrell is still at the school and currently planning a 30-year anniversary celebration for the school's jazz program. I'm hoping I can make it back to Providence to celebrate this accomplishment and see some of my old friends.
I'm also looking forward to the NAMM show in Anaheim later this week, and not just because it's 8 degrees in NYC right now. I'll be doing a live interview with Dan Shinder of Drum Talk TV on Thursday 1/24 at 2:30PM EST/11:30AM Pacific which you can watch live on the Drum Talk TV Facebook page . After NAMM, I've got a some east coast dates in February with a few different projects. Check the calendar page for details, and thanks for reading!
