I'm excited to be hitting the road with hip-hop artist MC Frontalot this summer for a run of West Coast dates! We'll be in Vegas at The Paris Casino on Aug. 9, then in Seattle, Portland, SF, LA and other cities from 8/28 - 9/7. Head over to the shows page for the full schedule! Shaffer The Darklord and Miss Eaves (two very talented rappers) are also on the bill, and I'm really looking forward to seeing all my friends on the left coast. After we finish, I'll be staying the Bay Area for a few days to record a full-length album with indie-rock band We Is Shore Dedicated. This is my 5th album with them, and I'll be laying down drumset, percussion, and even some marimba tracks.
It's been a great summer so far, with shows in NYC, upstate, NY, and throughout the east and midwestern US. I've had the pleasure of supporting some brand new artists recently (Simon Garrett, Anita Aysola, Adam Douglass, Dave Ross), as well as some longtime favorites (Michael Gallant Trio, Favorite States, Woodhead, Doll Parts). Over the years, I've discovered that I greatly enjoy the process of learning new material and particularly relish the process of refining my process. I've tried to continue improving my shorthand road maps and my efficiency in creating them. The act of creating these charts is itself a great tool for learning and eventually memorizing new tunes. Part 3 of my Studio Tips series for Drumeo covers this topic, and I also have some examples from an article originally on About.com .
That's all for now, and thanks for reading!
